Known for its stunning natural beauty and profound historical significance, Delphi was home to the Oracle of Apollo, where pilgrims sought guidance from the gods. The archaeological site features impressive ruins, including the Temple of Apollo, the ancient theater, and the athletic stadium. With breathtaking views over the valley and the Gulf of Corinth, The sanctuary was also home to the Pythian Games. The competitions included chariot races, foot races, musical contests, and even poetry readings. Unlike the Olympics, the Pythian Games also featured competitions for art and dance, and women were allowed to participate in some events. These games were a celebration of both physical prowess and artistic talent, making them a unique and important part of ancient Greek culture. Delphi is both a spiritual and cultural treasure, offering a glimpse into the heart of ancient Greek civilization. While there, we will experience a guided tour as well as a traditional and very special lunch on us. Upon our return and for those that still have energy, we can dine together and explore nightlife in Athens

Then, off to the ancient amphitheater, a remarkable relic of the city's once-mighty cultural and military significance. Dating back to the 2nd century BCE, it could seat around 20,000 spectators and was used for dramatic performances and public events and to this day, it's acoustic capabilities still stump scientists. We will eventually arrive at our final accommodation and Dimitra's family home (UNESCO historical site), Sparta Gaia Guest House, in time for an overview and orientation. It was an important city in ancient Greece, and it is now mainly known for the impressive remains of its fortified enclosure, as well as the agora, the theatre and public buildings. Although the city is now in ruins, the region’s reputation for wine-making has continued from ancient times right up to the modern day. We will also stop by Agia Fotini may be an Orthodox church but it is the most un-orthodox church you’ll ever come across in Greece. In the heart of Arcadia, in the Peloponnese, a few miles from the town of Tripoli, in the Mantineia valley at the foot of Mt Menalon stands a unique temple that for decades, alone and neglected, attracted the few who dared to enter its creaky doors
